Food Specialties is a proudly Canadian, family owned company that has been serving the ice cream and frozen dessert industry for over 40 years. We supply a diverse range of premium ice cream and frozen dessert ingredients to Canadian and international markets.
We work closely with our customers to understand what they are trying to achieve and develop products that meet the specific demands of their recipes, processes, and markets. From new product development and flavour formulation to solving complex technical challenges, our team brings deep industry experience and an extensive formulation database to every project. Whether you produce artisan batches or operate a national manufacturing line, you receive the same responsive, hands-on support from our technical team.
We manufacture roughly 95% of what we sell in-house, right here in Canada. That gives us the flexibility to move quickly from concept to formulation, testing, and production, while keeping more of the process under our own roof. The result is less time spent waiting and a faster path to bringing new frozen dessert products to market, proudly made in Canada.

1967- Our roots
Our founding team begins working in the frozen dessert ingredient industry, building the technical knowledge base that Food Specialties would be founded on.
1983 - Food Specialties founded
Food Specialties Canada is incorporated as an independent company, taking the expertise built over 16 years and applying it under one roof.
1988 - Food Specialties expansion in UK
Began supplying the UK market following the development of strong relationships with ice cream manufacturers in Devon.
1991 - Expansion to a larger facility
Manufacturing moved to a larger Mississauga location that still serves as headquarters.
