1983 - Food Specialties Canada as an independent company

Initially, the business was focused on making and selling ice cream stabilizers. As the business gained traction and developed a strong understanding of the market, it was well-positioned to expand its product offerings. The decision to invest in focused research into ice cream technology was a pivotal moment in the company's history. This allowed the company to diversify its product range to include almost every kind of ingredient used in ice cream.

1988 - Food Specialties UK Ltd.

Food Specialties started its operations in UK after one of the partners visited UK. He along with Russell were looking for ice cream makers in Devon. The Devon milk, which became ice cream mix only hours after leaving the cows, gave a wonderful flavour that can only come from very fresh milk. This gave a unique edge to the company. Today, the company has customers across the UK in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

1991- Expansion to a larger facility

With the increase in growth, the manufacturing facility moved to a larger location in Mississauga, which still serves as the companies’ headquarters. This allowed the company to continue producing finest ice cream ingredients at a larger scale.

2008 - Xuzhou Fu Te Si Food Company Ltd.

After gaining a strong foothold in Canada, Russell’s strong desire to bring his expertise and products to an international audience led to the establishment of a new company, Xuzhou Fu Te Si Food Company Ltd. in China. They quickly built strong relationships and established a strong presence in the Chinese market.

1967- Our Roots

In 1967, an immigrant carrying a guitar arrived in Halifax. The journey had been a little rough and the land was still swaying under his feet as Russell Morley became used to his new country, Canada.

After a long rail journey, he arrived in Toronto and started looking for work. He was hired as a salesperson to sell ingredients to food manufacturers and eventually went on to purchase the Food Specialties division of the company.
